<h1>What can you do if you are hungry on HCG diet?</h1>
<p>Recently I’ve gotten quite a few phone calls asking what to do if you are hungry while on the weight loss phase (Phase 2) of the HCG diet in Gold Coast. I did a little research into this as I didn’t experience any hunger while I was the diet protocol.</p>
<p>When I first read about the HCG diet protocol I thought I would experience extreme hunger pains. After all, you are only eating 500 calories! But the HCG hormone boosts your metabolism so that you are not only NOT hungry there are times when I found myself having to practically choke down my apple or “remember” to eat my chicken and cucumbers!</p>
<p>So let me give you a few helpful hints on what things may cause you to be hungry on the HCG diet and what you can do about it if you are.</p>
<p>One of the reasons you may be experiencing hunger is that you didn’t load properly. The first two days of the HCG diet protocol are loading days. You were to eat as much high fat foods as possible. This was extremely important as it was preparing your body for the very low calorie portion of the diet. If you didn’t load properly you may experience hunger for up to 4 – 5 days. Stick to the HCG diet! Drink plenty of water.</p>
<p>Another reason for you may be overly hungry is because you have reached what Dr Simeons calls “Immunity.” Basically your body learns how to breakdown and eliminate the HCG Hormone very rapidly. Or, you might be nearing your goal weight and your body simply doesn’t have enough abnormal weight left to burn off. Your body maybe have reached a new metabolic set point with your weight. If you feel you have reached immunity you should wean off the diet and go to Phase 3. (Read Pounds and Inches for the procedure.)</p>
<p>So, what can you do if you are hungry on HCG diet? Drinking lots of water throughout the day will really help. There are some great herbal teas that can help as well and make you feel full.</p>
<p>Try spacing your meals out. Eat a piece of fruit early in the day. Protein and vegetable for lunch, protein and vegetable fore dinner, and a fruit for an evening snack. Again, drink lots of water and tea in between. Another trick is easy, add some extra vegetables. Dr Simeons didn’t put a real limit on vegetables so if you wanted to add some extra cabbage to your meal, that shouldn’t take you over the 500 calorie limit.</p>
<p>Try to determine if you are experiencing real hunger or a food craving. The results of this diet when followed correctly are pretty amazing so stick it out!</p>

<p>If you’re currently doing the HCG diet and you’ve been experiencing uncomfortable hunger pains, you’re probably looking for any solution to make them stop. It’s actually pretty uncommon for individuals to experience hunger pains while taking HCG, because the hormone releases enough stored fat for the body to fuel itself on. However, it could happen occasionally and there are some great tips to help find relief.</p>
<p><b>Check Your Dosage</b></p>
<p>The first thing you might want to do is check your dosage. While originally, the founder of the HCG weight loss plan recommended 125IU of HCG (6 Drops of the 4Phase Ft Elimination Protocol 3 times a day), experts have found that 175 to 200IU (8 to 10 drops) is much more effective. If you’re not getting enough of the hormone, it could leave you feeling hungry and unsatisfied. If you’re only taking the 125IU, bump the dosage up to 175IU to see how that feels. <p><b> </b>Another wonderful way to prevent or stop hunger pains during the HCG diet is to increase your intake of water. This will help you to feel fuller longer. If you don’t care for the taste of water, you can make it more palatable by adding Stevia all natural sweeteners. This should be the only sweetener you use during the HCG diet, though.</p>
<p><b>Green Tea</b></p>
<p>You can also drink green tea to help stave off the hunger pains. Green tea is said to be a natural appetite suppressant and it cabe sweetened with the Stevia as well. You can drink as much green tea as you want while you’re doing the HCG diet, and it should help your stomach feel fuller so you don’t feel the need to eat anything else. Try to drink a glass of water or green tea after every meal so you increase the fullness you’re experiencing from the meal.</p>
<p>Overall, while you shouldn’t really experience many hunger pains during the HCG diet, it is possible. Use the methods above to get rid of those hunger pains so you can continue your diet and reach the weight loss goals you’ve set for yourself.</p>

I have stressed this point only for the sake of my lay readers, because it is our daily experience that when patients hear the word hormone they immediately jump to the conclusion that this must have something to do with the sexsphere. They are not accustomed as we are, to think thyroid, insulin, cortisone, adrenalin etc, as hormones.”</p>

<h3>A New Food Pyramid</h3>

<p>The traditional healthy eating pyramid puts carbohydrate-rich grain foods, such as bread, rice and pasta, along with vegetables and fruit, at the base to encourage us towards a low-fat, high carbohydrate diet. Many nutrition experts including myself now question this approach, as clearly it is not working in curbing overweight and obesity rates. There is a strong argument that humankind was never designed to eat such a high carbohydrate diet, but making it worse is our tendency to eat all the wrong carbs. Such a typical modern diet tends to be energy-dense and nutrient poor, leading to weight gain and ill health.</p>

<p>This revamped food pyramid is designed to reverse this. It will guide you towards a diet that gives you more bang for your bite, a diet that is nutrient-dense but energy saving. It is a back to nature approach reflecting the way we were designed to eat, and factors in the latest nutrition research.</p>
<p>Vegetables and fruit form the base. For very few kilojoules they provide an incredible wealth of essential nutrients. In essence this means you can afford to eat a lot more of these foods than any other.</p>
<p>On the second level you’ll find a flexible line between the more energy dense protein-rich and carb-rich foods. So long as you eat the minimum from each group, you can have more protein and less carbohydrate, or vice versa. How much of each you choose to eat will depend largely on factors such as your food preferences, exercise levels and body type.</p>
<p>Near the top of the pyramid lie the fat-rich foods. Being energy dense the volume we eat needs to be less, but because they contain many essential nutrients not found in other foods they must be included in the daily diet. The days of buying everything ‘low fat’ and ‘fat free’ are thankfully gone! It’s all about quality.</p>
<p>And finally at the tip of the pyramid are the treats. What constitutes as treats are the foods and drink that really give you pleasure but you feel you shouldn’t have. Chocolate, lollies, a burger, G and T, or whatever else you feel you couldn’t live without. And neither should you have to. As long as you remember the positioning of treats in the food pyramid and eat them in that proportion so that the bulk of your diet is packed full of more nutritious foods, it really doesn’t matter much what makes up this small space.</p>
<p>Why do we need to eat from each of these food groups? Well it’s quite simply this—each food group provides a different set of nutrients and has a special purpose. Without your share of each, your body cannot perform at its best and sooner or later you’ll feel the effect. Perhaps you don’t eat enough vegetables and fruit, and suffer from more colds and flu than you need to, or you’ve cut out carbs to try and lose weight – and find yourself constipated and unable to concentrate. You may have chosen to cut out meat, can’t cook fish and don’t understand tofu – but you always feel tired, your spirits are low and you never feel fully sated after meals. Or you may be battling with your weight on a low fat diet and have dry skin, a foul temper and an unbearable craving for a family block of chocolate.</p>
<p>The solution is to eat more different foods, not less. Broaden your palate to include foods from each of food groups, in the proportions illustrated in the pyramid.</p>
<h3>Creating Healthy Meals</h3>

<p>Following an expert designed meal plan is all well and good for a week or two, but long lasting results require permanent change to your eating habits and that means knowing how to do it for yourself. To help you achieve this, here is my suggested template for how to create your meals.</p>

<p>This model allows you to translate the New Food Pyramid into a plate model for each meal. It is not meant to be set in stone, rather serve as a guide. So don’t stress if at breakfast you have a bit too many carbs and not enough fruit or veg, but then at dinner have steak and salad and not so many carbs. The point is to allow these things to balance out and overall to meet this pattern.</p>
<p>Try to fill half your plate with veggies and/or fruit. This is easiest to do at dinner, but work on the other meals. These foods best meet our requirement for low energy but high nutrient density. They pack loads of nutrition into only a few kilojoules.</p>
<p>Then add a moderate serve of both a high protein and a high carb meal, choosing quality over quantity. For the carbs that means a low GI, nutrient-rich food, and for protein one that is low in saturated fats, perhaps a source of omega-3 essential fats and certainly rich in other nutrients such as iron and zinc. Finally add some healthy fat for both taste and nutrition. This might be in the form of a healthy oil to cook, in a sauce or dressing or from a food such as avocado, nuts and seeds, or hummus. Cheese can also count here – although it’s high in saturated fat it is high in other nutrients, especially minerals such as calcium and zinc. Just be sensible about the frequency and portion size you eat.</p>
<p><strong>The 4 Phase Fat Elimination and The Hunter Gatherer Diets</strong></p>
<p>For those needing an extra boost at loosing those extra kilos or they are needing a good system cleanse out and hormone balance the 4 Phase Fat Elimination Diet (HGC diet) is a great tool for doing so. <p><strong>2 &#8211; Mushrooms</strong> &#8211; instead of meat use mushrooms in a sauce or salad. They are filling and cut hundreds of calories. Mushrooms are a rich source of germanium which increases oxygen efficiency in the body. They are also extremely low in calories and are a source of vitamin B.</p>
<p><strong>3 &#8211; Beans</strong> &#8211; they contain resistant starch which triggers key appetite hormones. These hormones are what make you feel full. Beans have soluble fibre which lowers cholesterol and helps to improve insulin resistance.</p>
<p><strong>4 &#8211; Crushed Red Pepper</strong> &#8211; the compound found in crushed red pepper is capsaicin. This is what ups the calories you naturally burn after eating.</p>
<p><strong>5 &#8211; Olive Oil</strong> &#8211; contains oleic acid, which sets satiety hormones. Olive oil is high in monounsaturated fats and lower in saturated fats than other oils. (Dark chocolate also has oleic acid and curbs hunger &#8211; see link)</p>
<p><strong>6 &#8211; Nuts</strong> &#8211; high in fibre and protein, nuts help you feel satisfied. Nuts have omega-3 fatty acids, phytochemicals, vitamin E, and potassium. By eating just a few nuts each day you are likely to eat 200 calories less per day. Also walnuts, almonds, and macadamia nuts are mono-and polyunsaturated fats &#8211; all good for your heart.</p>
<p><strong>7 &#8211; Fresh Vegetables</strong> &#8211; a necessary part of our diet. By loading up daily on vegetables you can lose 25 percent more weight than people who only trim the fat in their diet. Plus, the magnesium, calcium and potassium in most fresh produce may help lower blood pressure. Organic or locally grown are recommended.</p>
<p><strong>8 &#8211; Soup</strong> &#8211; by starting your meal with soup (broth style, not cream based) you are likely to eat 20 percent fewer total calories, than you would if you had opted to skip the soup. Soup fills you up.</p>
